The question of whether Irish legislation is sufficiently robust to protect families will be one of the topics discussed by the chairman of the Adoption Authority, Geoffrey Shannon at the upcoming BPW National Conference on the Family.

Professor Pat Dolan, a leading Galway academic, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker in the forthcoming BPW conference which focuses on issues surrounding the family in 2011.

The annual BPW summer lunch which took place in the Ardilaun Hotel last Friday, and was kindly sponsored by RDJ Glynn, certainly was a unique occasion as BPW Galway celebrated 25 years since being founded in Galway by Breda Ryan and her committee, and has gone from strength to strength since then. On that morning Breda and John Ryan unveiled a plaque to commemorate the establishment of the club.

BPW Galway (Galway and District Business and Professional Women’s Club) will see its new programme of events for 2009 launched by incoming president Johanna Downes in The Ardilaun hotel on Wednesday next January 28.

Constance Cassidy SC is to be the guest speaker at the BPW summer lunch to be held next month at The Ardilaun.
